Time is a bitch. It waits for none, it’s precious, and we all live under its domain. So what do we do when we have too much time on our hands? Here’s a few things to do while you wait and let your face mask work wonders for your skin.
Find that your mind can’t stop racing? In our face-paced world, it’s easy to become stressed. Technology and other forms of external stimuli cause our brain to be overloaded and overworked. Unfortunately, the stress we face has negative repercussions on our skin. Practicing meditation, or mindfulness, is a great way to help you reclaim peace of mind and work towards living a stress-free life. There’s something incredibly therapeutic about escaping technology and reading a great book. Use this time to find a book that you enjoy - educate, inspire, or empower yourself - or just whisk yourself away to a fantasy land!
Do a quick at-home workout
Take this time to do some sit-ups, pick up some free weights, or follow an at-home workout routine. Just make sure you don’t sweat too much since that mask needs to stay in place!
Colouring, drawing, and painting isn’t just for the artsy types. Immersing yourself in these activities is actually proven to help reduce your stress levels. Occupying your mind on creative things allows your amygdala - the fear centre of your brain - to relax. It also helps us practice focus and attention to detail, which many of us struggle with. So, get creating!
Write something down
Have you ever tried just writing your feelings out about your day? Throughout the day, your mind records your thoughts and feelings - but these thoughts and feelings can keep our brains awake, making it harder to fall asleep. Keeping a journal is a great way to allow your mind to relax since you’re able to get those thoughts and feelings out on paper - which is essentially freeing them from your mind.
